“AKKUA project” born at the end of 2003 to carry out the idea of making the first technical sock for Aqua fitness, a movement in strong expansion and evolution.
The ideation and the development of the project born from the revolutionary and irreverent minds of the four founding business partners of AKKUA: Marco Coffinardi, Alberto Longhi, Ermanno Bertoldi and Luigi Polacco who, thanks to their wide experience in different fields (technical productive, business, sports) and their enthusiasm for the sports world, have allowed to realize the “AKKUA project”.
The first AKKUA sock for water activities was introduced on the market on October 2004. In 2005 Akkua launched “Akkua Fitness Experience”, the first sock for gym activities such as Pilates, soft gymnastics, stretching, pre-birth gymnastics, third age gymnastics, Rebounder, martial arts.
In 2006 Akkua has introduced on the market the first seamless sports swimwear in polypropylene with the following innovative, technical features: antibacterial, no allergenic, transpirable, ultra light and antistatic.
In 2007 Akkua introduces the first “One Finger” technology, a sock with separate big toe in order to improve the stability and the direction of the movement, besides to be very comfortable with flip-flop. “One Finger” technology is applied to the socks for aqua fitness and yoga.
Always in 2007, Akkua creates and introduces the first technical socks for sports and recreational activities of children: Akkua Kids Pool for the activities in water and Akkua Kids Gym for the activities in gym.
At the beginnings of 2008 “Akkua Rehab Sock” is introduced, the first technical sock created for the orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation in water and in gym.
